Cocoland Sea Turtles
St. Lucia’s beaches serve as a nesting ground for endangered sea turtles from March through November. Leatherback, Hawksbill, and Green sea turtles all find a welcome haven on this picturesque stretch of sand. Book your visit during the right season and you may catch a glimpse of the magic.
Children participating in the CocoLand Kidz Klub SCOUTS program will get an intriguing introduction into the world of the mighty sea turtle. The program teaches them how to identify different species of sea turtles, spot nests, and protect these endangered creatures. Activities include themed art projects, crafts, and games.
During nesting season, children can participate in beach walks to watch as young hatchlings begin their journey to the water. The program promotes awareness of the delicate life cycle of this majestic creature, so visitors will understand how to best protect nesting sea turtles and their hatchlings.
You don’t have to be one of Coconut Bay’s youngest guests to get to know our sea turtles better. Guest education is available for everyone on holiday here. The Eastern Caribbean Marine Managed Area Network (ECMMAN), affiliated with the Nature Conservancy and Saint Lucia Department of Fisheries coordinates conservation efforts with resort staff. During nesting season, you’ll find staff members monitoring the resort’s beach to mark nests, collect data, and supervise hatchlings. All our guests are encouraged to get to know this extraordinary reptile better.
